Clip to ScrapBook
Hi, I used Pablo Neruda's "Odes to Common Things" quite a few times in my class last year, but primarily to show that you can write a poem about ANYTHING and can write descriptively about ANYTHING. They probably won't pick up the subtleties of the poems (some of the poems imply what he thinks the personality of the object would be like, and that went over their heads). Some of the poems include:

Ode to the dog
Ode to the onion
Ode to a pair of scissors
Ode to a violin in California

The copy I have also has each poem in Spanish.
If you're interested, I'd suggest finding it in a bookstore and looking at it first to see if it would be helpful.
