Fifth grade is a dream!!
By Heather

Clip to ScrapBook
I am so excited for you. I loved working in fifth grade. I have not taught on my own yet either, but I did student teach in fifth grade. Here are some ideas to help you get started! For a jump start on your language arts lessons read the Minipins by Ronald Dahl. The book has wonderful vocab. Do not show the students the pictures in the book. As you read the book choose areas you want to stop and ask them to draw a picture etc. (Show students how to fold a large piece of paper to create an 8 page mini-book.) This book will cover a weeks worth of LA.

Literature circles were also a hit in my room, and Power Point book report presentations. Be creative and have fun!!!
