We call those privacy screens, and we use them when testing or doing dictation in phonics. The kids really like them. We used the heaviest bristol board the supply room had, cut them down to about a yard long, 18 inches high, and tri-folded them so they stood up and covered front and sides of the desk area. Then we decorated the centre panel with a cute animal picture from a Ranger Rick or other nature magazine. Laminating was not necessary, we just put a piece of clear mactac over the picture. They work fine, last for years, and allow you to have the desks together for groupwork and sharing the rest of the time. We share one set between our two classrooms, so you could ask another teacher at your grade to help you make them.
