Your rules definitely need respect in them. That's the biggest thing to me - if they have respect for others they won't have discipline problems. When you're not sure what rule a problem falls under, it will always fall under that one. I start off with: 1. Respect yourself and others 2. Keep objects to yourself (hands, feet, etc..) 3. Raise your hand before speaking 4. Stay seated unless given permission Of course, you can use the Golden Rule since it's Biblical - Do under others - that also covers a lot. In fact, I have a bulletin border with that on it!
