Always plan to use the games... when you run out of time- the instinct is to skip over these- but don't!! They are so fun and crucial for helping kids make the connection. We used EM for years and then recently adopted Harcourt.| The only thing that wasn't my favorite part of EM was that there never seemed to be mastery of anything. Yes- the spiraling curriculum is wonderful- but sometimes it was too much and never let us get DEEP into multiplication, or whatever we were studying! ANother difficult part of EM was the language- make sure your parents are reading the newsletters that explain it- when you have | |
an open house or PTO- take advantage of that time to really explain it... it is very different than what most people were taught with, so it increases parent anxiety level!
