Welcome letter to parent too....

I always send a welcome note to my second graders, even though they already know I am their teacher. (there is only one class of each grade)
It makes them feel special. I also enclose a letter to the parents with reminders on it..
for example school starts on August 27,no uniforms that week
I also add on a supply list reminder, even though I sent it out at the end of the school year. This helps if someone has misplaced the list and will know what to buy and not to buy.I feel like this letter is so important. It makes
the student feel important and the parent letter
makes the parents realize that you want to keep in good communication with them.
