team grouping
By kimberly

Clip to ScrapBook
Hello! I team teach so I don't know if this will help but...
To start a new unit, say division, I will give pretest that tests what they should know and a little beyond in both classes. Based on the results, I will group a low and high. This changes the classes around. In the beginning of the unit, the students will find out if they are a.m. or p.m. math class. The reading teacher already knows the reading level of the students so she may not have the exact same group of low readers, but she can still group by ability for reading groups. This way, the slower group can have the whole three weeks to take it one step at a time and the higher group can move on to enrichment stuff with division.
Hope this helps!
