cursive

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach third grade and I have to agree with you. I worked so hard on cursive last year and I had several students that would take literally an hour of working on one paragraph. It was just a write, erase, write, erase event all day. So I finally decided to have the few students whose printing was illegible to be required to write in cursive. (because cursive was a huge improvement)Then the others I made it optional.
We still had cursive practice every day after lunch, but since our reportcards don't have a grade for handwriting, I found some kids really didn't care.
And also if you don't a school that has the same philosophy of cursive and how often it should be used, why have all the arguments of forcing how often it should be used.
