Hi Amy! I also teach in Maryland. Have you ever heard of the teaching store "Learning How?". I often go there and I have found math related borders among hundreds of other things. There's a Learning How store in Bel Air,
Maryland (Harford County). There are other locations in Maryland this store is located. I also go to Hamlett's, which is located in the White Marsh Mall (Baltimore County). As to helping your third graders, did you think of having your students list their math words alphabetically? I have fifth graders and they make a math dictionary at the beginning of the school year, where I explain they
will be adding to their dictionary as the year progresses. We also brainstorm and add entries of mathematical vocabulary terms we already know. This helps me to get an idea of their prior knowledge.
