6th Grade Homework

Hi- I teach 6th and I firmly believe in homework. Part of my job is getting these guys ready for middle school, etc(I teach at an elementary school). My class is supposed to read each night for 30 minutes plus have between| one and one and a half hours of homework Mon. thru Thurs. I am not a veteral teacher, this will be my third year teaching 6th. The students who are going to do their homework (most of them) figure out how to get it done regardless of other activities. I think this helps them learn to budget their time. I also work with a population that receives little help with homework. I make | |
sure that anything I send home is something they're able to do...either a review or continuation of classwork, or some type of research/study skills.
