I teach in Virginia and we come back a week before the kids do. Monday and Tuesday MORNINGS are for meetings....the rest of the time is ours.
However, I go back the week before because I like to be on the ball. I would rather use those days copying and planning, than setting up my room. So, I go in early to set up my room.
I had a choice whether to be paid over 10 months or 12 months. You're really not getting "paid" for July and August- they just spread the money out. Like, each month I get so much put into a "summer account"- and then it is split into 2 paychecks for the summer.
Yes, the school is making money by keeping mine and collecting interest, BUT I would rather have a paycheck every month than worry about budgeting for summer.
