Great beginning ideas
By Cheryl

Clip to ScrapBook
Just wanted to say I love your ideas! I think I'm going to start with the novel "Judy Moody Was in A Mood" which would be great for a reader's personal response. I try to do fun things the first day, but keep it fairly
structured. We will probably start with very short introductions and then do a classroom tour. I have a fairly intensive "calendar" program that includes a lot of math, so we will start that. I also always wonder if the kids like to tell about their summer holidays, or if they would rather get on with new stuff. (I never know which way to go.) One simple, creative art project for the
first day is "One Thing I NEVER Did This Summer". They finish the sentence and illustrate it on poster paper. Fun, and great for the kids that didn't get to go to Disneyland.
