I enjoy science fiction and fantasy, escape from the reality of everyday, I imagine.

Has anyone read the Earth's Children series by Jean Auel? I got a copy of Jean Auel's "Clan of the Cave Bear" at a rummage sale. The
movie was a waste but the books are fascinating. I guess you would call them "prehistorical" fiction. The author does serious research and the facts woven in are amazing. I have read articles in science and archeology magazines that support things in the books. I am impressed with an author who really does her homework and enjoy the strong central female character. I have read the whole
series, including actually waiting for the last one to come out.

This summer I read Greg Bear's "Darwin's Radio" and "Darwin's Children". These were related to evolutionary change in a modern setting. Again they had some factual base but were really more fantasy.
