crayon resist
By Cheryl

Clip to ScrapBook
A crayon resist project is done by coloring any picture very heavily with wax crayons. They could make an underwater scene with various appropriate crayon colors. Then you take fairly watery tempura paint (blue for your
water), and you paint right over top of the whole thing. The wax in the crayon will resist most of the paint and give you a really cool effect. I've also heard of adding some kind of soap into the paint to make it seem bubbly, but I don't know the details on that one. P.S. Using a heavy weight paper is most effective for this project. If you tape the paper down with masking tape, (all
around the edges), you can create an unpainted frame, and have less curly paper when it dries. Also, the best advice I could give you is try a small scale of any unknown art project first. It will save you heart ache in the end!!
