Oyate, oh, no!
By Carole

Clip to ScrapBook
I checked Ms. P's list on books to avoid and feel that she is a victim of the let's change history movement. Sign of the Beaver is HISTORICALLY accurate and character building as well as enlightening. So is The Courage
of Sarah Noble which is a Newbery Medalist. Brother Eagle, Sister Sky is told by American Indian Chief Seattle and is not only touching, but timely!

When we start attacking that which is moral and uplifting in the name of political correctness, we weaken the fiber of our country! If the word Indian offends you, get a life! Mark Twain said, "The difference between the almost right

word & the right word is really a large matter--it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning." Don't let a arbitrary word you have decided to take offense at turn our history into lightning bolts that destroy great literature.

Sign of the Beaver is a terrific book.
