going to the zoo
By sj

Clip to ScrapBook
We did one years ago that turned out cute, based around the song, "We're going to the Zoo" The students made costumes (paper hats, posters with face holes, etc.), then alternated between reciting poems and singing songs
that worked through list of animals. We had introduced one each week all through the year, so by May when we did the program, they had little new to learn. We put the kids in singles and groups to recite and sing. Of course, we made up motions for all the songs. There are so many cute poems and songs about animals that it wasn't hard to pull together. Because we'd taught all the songs
and poems through the year, we didn't have to have all those terrible "cramming session" rehearsals, and the kids had a great time reviewing and creating their costumes and our rehearsals were more about who did what when than learning lines and songs. Hope this helps.
