work load
By Susan/5th

Clip to ScrapBook
Oh yes, I guess I should've mentioned the "con" of self-contained, and that is the work load! I definitely spend more time planning than I did before. You have to take the good with the bad, I suppose. A typical day for
me? Here is my schedule:
7:40 - first bell rings - go to class - start on morning work (handwriting, journals, SSSR, etc...)
8:00 - quiz time (I ask one student 7 questions they should know - president, capitals, etc...)
8:10 - ability-grouped reading (non-graded)
9:10 - math
10:10 - language arts
10:30 - special class (PE, library, etc...)
11:10 - recess (very short
due to tight schedule)
11:20 - lunch/bathroom break
12:00 - reading/language arts continued
12:40 - social studies
1:20 - science
2:10 - pack up and quick bathroom break
2:15 - I read to them
2:30 - go home
