word walls
By linda

Clip to ScrapBook
I have taught 1/2 for 10 years. We have used the same word wall. The 2's need the review of the easier sight words...especially in correct spelling. Both groups don't have a problem learning the words that are presented
at the beginning of each week. I work with five new words a week, including word family words. It is amazing how the 1's will bloom. Obviously, I expect the 2's to be more consistant with the correct spelling in their writing and in the different projects that we do. Many of the 1's become very proficient. I have found that they all rise to the level at which the work is presented.
I call the sight words glue words, that help our language stick together. I call the word family words, such as cat, back etc. clue words, because if you can spell those words, they will help you spell others. Hope this helps
