Taught it for 4 years

I have taught OC for the past 4 years and really like the results. However, I do not use the whole lesson every day. Our initial trainer told us not to get overwhelmed with the lessons. She said the most important part was
the phonemic awareness section which is the green section of the lesson.
This past year I only did a few of the lessons in the blue part and a few from the red section. I made sure I did the blending, big book, take home books and phonics workbook. There was not enough time for everything else. (Unless of course I wanted to skip math, lunch, free play, science, etc. :-) )
So when

you first start, focus on the green section and when you are comfortable with the program, add the other sections.
After the first week, you will be surprised at how well the kids can read on their own. Good luck with it!
