    Give Her Something To Do!
    By Jennie

If she comes in to your classroom, greet her with open arms and plenty to do! Have materials ready that you need to be cut out, books that need to labeled or leveled, copies that need to be made, children (other than her child) that need to read orally, bulletin boards that need to be covered, etc., etc., etc. I have found that with problem parents the more that you have for them to do, the less often they come in to "spy" on you. Who knows, she may actually end up being a pretty good volunteer. If this doesn't work, considering having a conference with her to stress how you want all of the children in the classroom to become independent workers and that you feel her constant presence in the room may be limiting her child's ability to be independent, as mom is always there for the child to run to.

    Hope all goes well!
