I'm giggling at your pronunciation - it really does sound similar to that! We just adopted that series at our school this year, and I was the 5th grade teacher that piloted it. It has great stories in it, but they're not
very long (which isn't a bad thing necessarily). The student handbook is also very good. My students loved it! It has a ton of things with it, if your school bought it all. There are leveled books centered on the same theme, but on different reading levels. There is a lesson plan CD (I didn't use it). It really does a lot of language arts activities that go along with the reading
story. I didn't have any trouble meeting all the benchmarks with that series. The only complaint was the format was a little confusing to me. I felt like I was flipping back and forth a lot - trying to do spelling, writing, etc... while I was doing one lesson. I think you'll like it.
