reward system
By maryellen

Clip to ScrapBook
The easiest system of all is the bead jar or marble jar. You simply get a child to put in a bead when you catch him doing something nice, see someone doing a behavior you want to encourage, whatever you want...or the helper
can put some in if the class behaves well in the hall or gets a compliment in library. When the jar is full, the whole class is rewarded with something fun, an extra recess, library, art or gym class, getting to play on a different playground (supervised by me of course, cupcakes to decorate, gum day, getting to have a buddy class in for lunch, popcorn and a movie (usually a movie I
was planning to show anyway)a picnic at lunchtime, a tasty drink, something not too expensive or fancy but they look forward to it. I make it happen pretty often at the beginning of the year, by the end they are just behaving, they don't even ask about the reward.
