I was in your exact position with my first teaching job. I moved to another state right after I graduated, so I was really in a bad position because I wasn't certified in that state yet. I was certified in Special ed. in
my original state. Anyway, I ended up taking a 7th grade resource classroom. I really wanted elementary, but there was a waiting list for those positions and I was nowhere near the top of the list. To be honest, I was miserable. But, that was just my experience. Many people have told me they would never teach middle school; only elementary or high school. I must have done a good job,
though, because I got moved to eighth grade with those same kids the next year. I ended up leaving mid year the next year. I was in a tough school with a tough principal. I don't mean to discourage you. You may love high school. It is better than no job, right?? GOOD LUCK!!
