spelling activities
By Lisa WA

Clip to ScrapBook
There's a post about this somewhere a while back...it had really great stuff, but I can't find it now. Here are some of my activities and ideas I remember from others.

Cut letters out of newspaper and glue to make your
words.

Do rainbow spelling (write word, then trace with one color after another until each letter looks like a rainbow)

Write the word with prefixes or suffixes (or both!)

Write each word and all the rhyming words you can think of.

Write your words with vowels in red, consonants in blue.

Classify your words into 3 or more categories (kids have to come up with categories--could

be number of syllables, part of speech, etc)

Write your word in a way that shows it's meaning (big might be written with huge letters, volcano might have letters that look like flowing lava, etc.--artistic kids love this!)

Those are the ones that I can think of right off. Hope that helps!
