teacher cert./license--with a Bach. already
By Nancy

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Amanda. I graduated with a B.A. in English (not education) in 1993, and finally realized in 2001 that teaching Middle School was my calling. Because I had already received a B.A. (in anything), several universities offered
a Master's in Education with initial teacher licensure/certification. All of my classes were evening classes (they met from 6:00-9 or 10, one night per week), and while I went full time (I subbed every day), it took me 5 quarters to complete. I had classes 4 night per week, simply because I was taking 4 courses per quarter. The only problem you may run into, is that if you are
going to teach English, Soc. Stds., Math, etc. there are probably going to be some undergraduate core courses that you will need to take as well, in addition to the education courses. Most undergrad. courses won't fit your schedule as well. Look into the universities in your area, and ask what types of opportunities they have for 2nd career teachers like yourself. Good luck.
