centers
By mc

Clip to ScrapBook
we use centers during guided reading 4 days a week. This may sound a little confusing at first, it did to me at least. My teammates got me started doing it this way. The reading groups go through four rotations: me, seatwork,
listening center, and centers. I set up 12 individual centers throughout the room, I use each of the computers, file folder games, stamps, etc. So when one reading group gets to the centers rotation they each go to a different center. Make sense? I use 12 centers because then you only have to redo centers every 3 weeks, which usually stretches to once a month. By the end of
the 3-4 weeks every child in class will have done 12 individual centers. It sounded really confusing when I tried it this way last year, but it made sense after I saw it in action and it was much easier than changing centers out every week. All you have to really worry about is listening center, and seatwork. I hope this makes sense! :-)
