Clip to ScrapBook
I used to use large plastic dishpans from the dollar store to hold center items. Now I have one of those plastic rolling carts with drawers. Everything for a particular center is in one drawer which the students can pull
out and take to a table. We generally change centers once a week, so I just restock the stuff on Friday (Ok, sometimes it's Monday morning...). Games, puzzles and other large stuff is just stored on the shelf where it is always kept. Students know that the blocks are listed for a center this week, so they can remove them from the shelf, use them, and replace them after centers. Your
idea of keeping a central area for often-used supplies is great. I would hold students responsible, somehow for return of these materials, or you'll be buying dice every other week. One way I've found is to have check-out sticks with the child's name on them. If they check out dice, they place their stick in the dice cup. When they return the dice their stick is returned.
