Piloted the Series in 2001
By Joy

Clip to ScrapBook
During the 2001 school year, I had an opportunity to pilot the series with my third graders. After careful review of several book companies we narrowed our choices down to McGraw Hill and Scott Foresman. At the time, I thought
that McGraw Hill was a good choice due to quality literature, skills lessons, activities that mirror NY state assessments, etc. The one problem that we did have with the series was the readability. If I recall correctly some of the stories in the anthology were far too difficult for the levels that the series intended them for.

My district made a decision to go with Scott Foresman.

I have to say that I am pleased with the decision. But I wish you good luck in your search. Is this series for you alone? Are you purchasing it for our school or district? Perhaps you could also pilot a series or two and decide what you like and dislike about both. I actually used an entire unit from both of the companies. It was well worth the time spent.
