Cats or Dogs
By Pam

Clip to ScrapBook
Is this a lesson, or a bulliten board? Either way- this could work. I have my students (4th) write a paragraph where the topic sentence is either "A dog is the best type of pet", or , "A cat is the best type of pet."

You
could turn it into a CUTE b-board, by spliting your class into either the DOG or CAT group. (Their choice of course)

Start with a blank b-board, with the titles CATS on one side and DOGS on another, and a string or line down the middle to separate.

Then each group would have to come up with the 3-4 supporting sentences, and the conclution. Write their sentences using PRINT SHOP

banners, or just hand write them on the background paper. Have kids bring pictures of their cats or dogs to school to add to the b-board. Also- it's easy to find photos of dogs/cats in PRINT SHOP, magazines, old calendars, etc...

I usually just have my students individually write their paragraph, but I may try this approach this year--- Good Luck! Pam
