Hi Jade!

You need something fun for students but manageable for you. How about a Cinderella Around The World mini unit? There's a super list of books and links at:
http://www.pampetty.com/folklore.htm#Cinderella
Also
look on the book board for other links - I thought it was too hard for 1st but you might get ideas.

Curriculum could include:
Reading = story retells, compare and contrast w/ venn diagrams, comprehension - which stories have a magic slipper and if not, what magical items help lead to story resolution?
Writing = a

shared/modeled writng experience to create their own class version. Type out the story and have pairs illustrate. (Your advisor will be impressed if you have pairs compliment each other on something they did well as closure for this!)
Art = create your own magic slipper
Social Studies/geography = on a blank map of the world, color every country that you read a cinder story from
Math = graph favorite stories

Hope that helps!
Trish
