Clip to ScrapBook
Our PE teacher had a fitness club in the mornings- before school where they did various activities, such as walking a mile, aerobics, tumbling, dancing, etc... this club was only open to 4th and 5th graders- but you really
could open it to anyone- depending on how often you met- If you met after school-you could show them how to make a healthy snack- and then do an activity... I know one thing our PE teacher was thinking about doing this year- is requiring that students walk or run 1/4 mile- we have poles on our playground- before each recess... some kids never really run around at recess and with our society's
weight problem/ couch potato problem, we thought it might be a good way to get kids moving. We have also done a morning movement thing- we show a tape each morning after the morning show- a quick 10 minute tape- of either stretching, aerobics, dance, or something to get the kids moving and blood pumping for the day... we called it PERK- but I can't remember what it stands for~ sorry!! Just some ideas!! Hope it helps! KB
