Male Elementary Teachers need not apply
By Phil

Clip to ScrapBook
Here in the Tampa Bay region, discrimination against
male teacher candidates is wide spread...including
Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough County.
I moved her in the summer of 2002 from California
and was unable
to find a job despite my full Florida
certificate, references and experience in the lower
grades.
This summer is no better. I have 16 rejection letters from
Pasco County alone. I only recd. 2 interviews. One school
sent me 2 rejection letters for the two positons I applied
for and when I examined the web site of Trinity Elem,
I found that all 37 teachers were female
include the principal, asst. principal, guidance teachers etc.
Its no wonder that I did not get an interview.
I filled a formal complaint with the civil rights office
of the US Dept. Of Ed. for Discimination on the basis
of gender and age.
Maybe if their Federal Funding were suspended they
would take this issue seriously as the HR director
would not return my 3 calls nor would the Pres. of the
Board of Ed.
