Team Teaching
By Karolinbess

Clip to ScrapBook
I've been team teaching for 5 years in Third Grade and found it to be a great experience. There ARE downsides to having DOUBLE the kids, but then again, there's only ONE prep. I taught the Reading/LA and my team-teacher
taught Math, Social St. and Science.

We split the day into two parts, switching classes after lunch. We get a "break" from one group of kids, and they seem to thrive. Our scores have sky-rocketed! We can plan more activities and have more in-depth studies since we're planning for one subject area.

Another thing we also do that really helps is changing classes on an Alternating

Block Schedule. That is, we see the same class in the morning that we saw the afternoon before. Knowing that kids learn best in morning times, we do this so that each subject gets optimum time rather than having the same subject in the afternoon. We've really had great results. The kids get the best of both worlds.

I love it! It's really better for me than being in a self-contained room.
