parental involvement By Susan/IN

I send home games weekly with each child for either math or reading. At the beginning of the year I tell the parents/guardians this is optional and if they want to participate they need to sign the form and return it. That| way if someone doesn't want to be bothered or doesn't have the time to play the game with their child, they have an out and I don't have to worry about getting the game back. The games go home on Monday and are supposed to be returned on Thursday. If a game doesn't come back the child doesn't get a game the next week. Most of the kids and their parents participated but a few didn't. | | We use the games in the classroom too so everyone does get a chance to play them. Most of the games came from FROG Publications but a few have been made and this spring I ordered a couple activities for money and math from Didax. Each activity has a sheet the parents are supposed to sign once they have played with the child. Good Luck. I know it's hard to get some parents involved but we have to keep trying.
