parental involvement
By Susan/IN

Clip to ScrapBook
I send home games weekly with each child for either math or reading. At the beginning of the year I tell the parents/guardians this is optional and if they want to participate they need to sign the form and return it. That
way if someone doesn't want to be bothered or doesn't have the time to play the game with their child, they have an out and I don't have to worry about getting the game back. The games go home on Monday and are supposed to be returned on Thursday. If a game doesn't come back the child doesn't get a game the next week.

Most of the kids and their parents participated but a few didn't.

We use the games in the classroom too so everyone does get a chance to play them.

Most of the games came from FROG Publications but a few have been made and this spring I ordered a couple activities for money and math from Didax. Each activity has a sheet the parents are supposed to sign once they have played with the child.

Good Luck. I know it's hard to get some parents involved but we have to keep trying.
