we were asked to bring one favorite rememberance of our 5th grade (which was the grade of my grandson) so you could do 6th grade. Then children in my grandson's class each stood up and told us their schedule...when they said we have reading at 9:30 a grandparent who had a memory of their reading lessons shared with the group...
for example...mine was not academic but when they said they had recess at 10:30 I shared my favorite rememberecne which was from the one room school house and about recess- we had a tall male teacher who would go outside for recess with we all went outside for recess one fine snowman making winter day and made the tallest snowman you could imagine...the teacher got a ladder to put the head on the top! the whole school chipped in to build it...we needed everybody to help push the biggest snowball for the base! the kids couldn't imagine either the teacher helping to build the snowman nor the whole school participating to build it.

Afterwards my grandson said he had learned a lot about the "old days" from all us grandparents! I just had to laugh!
