Clip to ScrapBook
I taught K for 10 years and loved having computers. There are lots of drill games to play. You will have to explain them to the students. Sopme games you can control the letters to drill. Just call a few students back
at a time to get them going the first week. Show then how to get the game going they will catch on real fast. Use easy ones for center time. I always had parents scheduled for computers two days a week for an hour. Everyone would get to the computers during that time for about 20 min. You can easily have 2 at each computer if necessary. Let the parent's child be in the first group.
Let the parents teach new games. Later the children can type their names vocabulary, sentences list of words that rhyme etc. I often had cards at the computer for them to type, parents can help get them printed off so kids can take them home. There are some really nice programs that I am sure you will come up with wonderful ideas and projects. Sometimes I was at the computers and the parent worked with the other group. Try to empasize using the correct hand to type the letters and using capital letters correctly. Enjoy!
