Homework
By Anne M

Clip to ScrapBook
Deborah,

I have taught for eleven years and the past seven have been wonderful since I began labeling the folders. I have the parents send a two pocket plastic folder. On my computer I print out cute sticky labels,
one saying "keep at home" and the other side saying "bring back". On Mondays I send home vocabulary and spelling lists for the week. These I instruct the students to put on the 'keep at home' side of the folder.
Observing as they do! During the week all other class activity pages we do are also put on this side of the folder. Daily homework I pass out at the end of each day. They put
these things on the "bring back" side of the folder, knowing that
I will check for them completed in the morning.
As part of their morning routine the students learn to empty their folder putting their home work in the Homework Basket. Now every folder should be empty to start the new day. I check homework daily as they do their morning work and journal writing. As for notebooks my students keep one at their desk for journal writing and thats all. I hope this might be helpful. Good Luck in the coming year! Anne M
