getting ready for the school year
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
It bothers me, but we are actually not given ANY time, really, before the kids come in! We return on Monday, August 4, but that day will be taken up with meetings. We have been asked to meet the new principal on Monday.
On Tuesday, the principal will take up the day with a faculty meeting to go over plans for the year. We are expected to meet with parents for "Parents' Night" on Tuesday evening! I don't know if I'll get to work on my room at all on Wednesday. They sometimes like to schedule before-the-year workshops. The kids will come in on Thursday for their first day of school. I hate to sound
a little sour, but I really think that the teachers should be given more time than they do to work in their rooms before school starts. Too much of our three days before the kids come in is taken up with meetings. This is one reason why I decided to get the "jump" on things this year by going in last week. I guess they expect that you will miraculously have your room fixed up and ready to go on Thursday. I rally don't know how you can do it unless you spend time in your room before the official start of the teacher's year.
