An idea

Getting to know you activities are always great. Last year, I had a get to know my teacher questionnaire with info about me on the sheet. I had questions like which levels I had taught over the years, my maiden name, my
age, where I was born, where I grew up, how many kids I have etc... The kids had a great time and it bonded us from the start! The student with most answers correct won a lollipop, gum, or some little treat, as did all the rest of the class. We had fun!

Also,my students had given numerical value to each letter in the alphabet, a=1, b=2, c=3 etc Using calculators, they had to add up

each letter in the word ATTITUDE to find that it adds up to 100. From there they created posters with the word written vertically and captioned it ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING! We then had a mini lesson / discussion about the significance of this slogan with respect to our school yesr and how we ALL have to give 100% of ourselves in all that we do. It doesn't need to be perfect but it must be the best each individual was capable of giving / offering The posters hung in the class all year. It set a great tone for the year that followed!!
