Teaching in Portland, OR
By Mrs. C.

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach in Lake Oswego (a suburb of Portland, about 10 minutes south) and I would recommend looking in the suburban districts around the Portland area including Vancouver, Washington (our neighbor to the North). Portland
is the biggest school district in the state and has had a lot of budget problems (they almost cut 24 days off the end of their school year). If you weren't aware of it, Oregon itself has been in a major financial crisis, and many school districts, including mine, had to cut days off their school calendars this past year. However, I have heard that there are districts hiring for this coming
school year (although I am not sure which ones). I would check with the following districts:

Lake Oswego
West Linn-Wilsonville
Tigard-Tualatin
Oregon City
Beaverton
Estacada
Clackamas (may also be known as Oregon Trail)
Parkrose
Reynolds
Gresham-Barlow

There are many more, but these are all I can think of off the top of my head right now. Most (if not all) of these districts have web sites you can check out, just do a search for the city and add school district to the end of it (i.e. "Lake Oswego School District"). I hope this will help you. Feel free to email me directly if I can help you any further. Good Luck!
