McGraw-Hill

I've served on a number os textbook selection committees over the years and have found that McGraw Hill publishers is also connected with MacMillan publishing company and the Wright group I believe is also tied in there somewhere.

Thrgh out the years many of these publishing companies have bought each other out.

We just purchased the McGraw Hill Science series for use next year. It looks very promising. They have a tie-in with the National Geographic Society. Macmillan/McGraw Hill is on the title page.( I just happen to have the teachers manual here)

Our reading series, which is now 5-6 years old

by MacMillan, was considered horrible by many of the teachers in our district. I think this was one of the original Balanced literature products and they didn't have the bugs ironed out.

We are presently supplementing our reading series with materials from the Wright Group, leveled books for guided reading and the computer program-which can stand alone as your whole program.

My second grade just finished piloting it for our district. It is pretty good, very involved and consuming as far as time managment goes.

As we were deciding on The Wright group I remember reading somewhere The Wright group and Macmillan are connected too.

I hope this helps. If it is the Science series your looking at e-mail me and I we"ll talk more. I was chairperson of the selection committee.
