Cursive Writing By Misty

I posted my thoughts and reasoning for those thoughts previously. Maybe no one else has encountered these children that I have had for the past two years. I had 3 kids who took more time to write in cursive than in print--even| after much practice. I thought why fight it and I went to using cursive only in Spelling. I don't want them to lose the skill, either. Also I don't want these types of kids to feel so inferior to their peers when they have such great ideas. One little boy I even gave a dreamwriter to do long writing assignment. I was just trying to share a philosphy that I learned aout in School's | | Attuned this past summer. Before when I made these allowances for these kids, I felt almost guilty that I was accomadating kids not on IEP's. Now I have decided that it is my job to help kids to make interventions and accomadations for their own learning. And if that means printing-then OK by me. I personally think it should be taught in 3rd grade as I taught 3rd alst year. After that our state(OK) objectives actually say to encourage children to develop their own style which honestly I have. I use a mix of cursive and print because it is fast for me. I wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers before. I just usually try to reason out the "why" behind what I am doing in the classroom.
