You just set up a schedule and do the best you can to stick to it!You have all the subjects, and yes it is a lot of work. The trade off in 4th grade is that at least they can grade most of their own work. I am currently working on perpetual lesson plans so I do not have to redo my lesson plans each year. I look at planning like I have four main subject, Language Arts, Soc. Studies, Science, & Math. Working on it about 1-2 days a week this summer I am already planned up through Christmas. I will just have to write in the dates and set up a schedule once I get back to school. It is a lot of work, but to me it is gratifying and worth it. I want to teach children, not just subjects so I feel like I need the extra time to get to know them and their learning styles, habits etc. As it turns out my school is not going to do it, but another elementary in our district is, phew. Also I use co-op groups and teambuilding so if I didn't have them all day I wouldn't have time to do that and get in all the academic as well. I just can't think of a subject that I would want to give up, either. I love reading to my kids aloud, and if I didn't have language arts with them, when would I get to do that?
