    Calendar Math

It is a supplementary math activity. It's actually titled "Every Day Counts Calendar Math", created by Great Source Education Group, Houghton Mifflin Company and is available for grades K through 6. You can check out to see the descirption of it there.

Basically it provides 10 to 15 minutes of supplemnetary math instruction each day and revolves around a bulletin board containing a calendar, a counting tape to count the days of school and other elementas that change throughout the school year each month such as clocks, coin counters and graphs. The bulletin board offers daily exposure to place value, measurement, time, money, mental math, patterns adn functions, geometry, estimation, graphing and much more and its visual, hands-on and interactive. It also provides great class discussions. I have seen it used in the classroom and it is really wonderful, however I must admit, this being my first year, it does seem very overwhelming. You do have to make a lot of the pieces but if they're laminated, of course they can be reused yearly. The kit is expensive but after owning one, others can easily be made on your own for other classes on the same grade level. Once I have my bulletin board complete, I'd be happy to share some photos but for now, I'm still gathering the materials and pieces I need to get it started!

If anyone out there is currently using this Calendar Math program and has more to share with the new beginners such as myself, that'd be wonderful!
