Websites for California
By Sherri

Clip to ScrapBook
I just did a search on what I looked for in my state for California:

http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentialinfo/credinfo.html
http://www.arc.org/Pages/ECC_path.html

href="http://www.calteach.com/require/ba01.html">http://www.calteach.com/require/ba01.html
http://www.teachsocal.org/teaching.asp
http://www.edutech-1.com/teachcred.cfm
http://www.special-ed-careers.org/recruitment_retention/initiatives.html

For

more, type in things like, "California teaching requirements" or "future teacher in California." Just search around all these websites and you'll learn a lot about teaching in your state.

Also, it helps to look for information at the college(s) that you are interested in. You can look in the catalog to see what classes you will need to take for what major.

Talking with teachers in your state is helpful too. Talk to newer teachers who may have gone through more hoops (classes, tests, grades) to be a teacher, and more experienced teachers who may have gotten their certification 25 years ago and went through different certification now. Both are very helpful, and I find that talking with teachers and showing interest is very important. Who knows? Maybe you'll end up looking for a job in their school in a few years, and maybe they will remember how eager you were as a 17/18 year old!

Good luck!
