The four square method for teaching writing is amazing at any level. I teach gr. 3 so I actually use the 1-3 book and the 4-6 resource book for ideas. Basically, you are teaching the children how to use a graphic organizer| to create amazing paragraphs. The organizer has four blocks with a narrow main idea block in the center. Here is an example of a kindergarten lesson. The center box may say: Families are very special. In the four remaining boxes the children may draw a picture of each of their family members and attempt to write the family members names. After the four sq. is complete the teacher would | | ask the child to read the four sq. as if it were written in sentences. As the year progresses the children would actually learn how to write sentences in each box. At the third grade level, my students can write two sentences in each box. They can also write their own main ideas and conclusions. It's pretty amazing to think that a simple graphic organizer can make such fabulous writers. WOW! AFter the organizer is complete the students transfer the information from the boxes on to regular paper. It's so awesome! The kids are amazed to see how much they can write! Good luck at your interview if it is not too late. Check out this site: http://teachinglearning.com/foursquare/ Be sure to click on the samples. I can't believe you couldn't find anything in the archives. Last school year or last summer we had a whole discussion on 4 square. Who knows?
