1. Welcome them at the door, and have them all go to their assigned seats (yes, put name tags on them - it keeps feelings from getting hurt from
4. Take roll - introduce yourself (tell about yourself, your likes, your family, etc..). Go over procedures throughout the day. Break it up with getting-to-know-you activities, but continue practicing procedure every time they come up (going to the bathroom, to lunch, etc...). 5. Give them all their textbooks and as each subject comes up, scan the textbook with them. They want to see them! Talk about what they already know, what they want to know, etc... This is getting long, but you get the general idea. Get all your structure set up. Something else that is interesting..... give them homework. Ask them to bring in one thing tomorrow that they're going to write a story about. Again - more insight into them and their writing skills (and whether they do homework!).
