Folders
By Gail

Clip to ScrapBook
I send two folders home. One is green and is the daily homework folder. [green color to represent going back and forth from home to school daily.] Inside the folder I put a small right hand on the the pocket on the right
hand side and tell students that the papers on this side come "right back to school. It usually is a math homework page or a story page that needs to be done with parents help and checked by them. Then I glue a small left hand on the pocket of the left side and tell them that the papers on this side are to be left at home. I've already graded them or they are flyers with info for parents,
etc.
The other folder I send is red, meaning it stops and stays at home for the week. I call it the Friday Folder because that's when I want it back at school. It is the folder that contains the weekly math facts, vocabulary words, and spelling words. I usually just staple the new ones on top of the old ones. We have put the zipper pouches inside them to hold the math facts and vocabulary flashcards too. It just depends on whether you want to help organize the student this much. I put a sign off sheet on the front of the folder
for the parent o initial Mon-Thurs, and this one folder lasts for a six weeks or for one of the reading books. This works pretty good because no one has the excuse as to not knowing what we are doing. I occasionally have to send a reminder on Friday to be sure and return the Friday Folder on Monday.
