Don't Panic

Don't Panic.
This will be my first year teaching kindergarten but last year I taught a grade at another reserve school that was similar so I have a bit of a head start. Some of the more experienced
K teachers may be more help to you then I will but I will try.
First thing I would do is to take a look at your new room and see what you already have and if they have any budget for you at all. Don't get rid of any of your third grade things- you may well need them some day - just pack them up and put them away.

I can send you some of the websites I have found useful. Problem is that I have low functioning students - I teach on a reserve so some of what I have may be far to easy. To start with, Teaching is a work of heart is a good site as is kinderkorner.com.
Once you know what you have in your room you can go from there either buying or making stuff - being a second career teacher - I make much of my stuff as I am suffering from a case of terminal broke lol.
As far as books for the students to read, I have picked up many of mine from garage sales, library sales and e-bay - prices are right.
Again don't panic - you will be fine and things will come together for you.
