Like you I have been on both sides of the classroom 4 years contract and most currently due to cuts subbing. I agree with what you like to see! I have (I dont know why I started) carrying a clipboard with me. I think the| secret to subbing is be early, early ....early lol. This allows me the advantage of being on top of things plans or no plans. On the clipboard I attach the daily lesson plans, seating plan, evacuation etc. In addition having an extra paper on it with notes I keep to myself all day allows me to be very thorough. Maybe Im nutty but I copy down any relevant things such as morning announcements | | (many teachers seem to like this), all work covered not covered, behavior notes etc...At the end of the day (yes I work late too lol), I sit down with that paper of mine and then write my letter to the teacher. Being early also has allowed me to carefully synthesize and visualize all material to be covered. I am extremely thorough and I find I never get to the fillers. I stopped carrying fillers when phoroteacher.net/dcforum/Images/at_symbol.gif">on my clipboard the sheet I write on is underneath the lesson plan just in case a student were to read it or worse a snoopy parent. As well it never leaves my sight. Maybe I'm paranoid lol lolol also when kids see that I appear to be keeping notes (esp grades 4 and up) they might never know what I am doing! I have never said to a class "I have a good list and a not good list". Why stress them out more than they already are! THIS IS LONG LOLOL tips 1) be early 2)treat everyone with respect!!!! Amazing how it comes back to you. 3) If possible mark everything unless you are told not to. 4)smile
